BASIL KING TO PRAISE RIMBAUD!
Basil King will inaugurate a site-specific drawing at New York City's Bowery Club! Here are details via an email from Bob Holman:
Subject: Basil King's "Rimbaud Praise Day" Sun 1/29/06 noon-4
Dear One and All,
Basil King's site drawing on the Bowery Poetry Club Art Wall opens Sunday, January 29, noon-4 at the Club, 308 Bowery (Bleecker-Houston). We are looking for some poets to read a Rimbaud poem at the opening.
Baz's new drawing follows three astonishing series he has created for the poems in Drunken Boat, Illuminations, and Season in Hell, which will be projected during the opening. Poems should be from those books.
Some readers who will be reading in French -- we are looking now for poems in English. Any translation is fine.
Noon - open
12:30 - Drunken Boat
1-PM Break
1:45 - Illuminations
2:15 pm break
3pm- Season in Hell
So - let me know if you are interested, and send me the name of the poem you'd like to read and maybe a couple back-ups.
If you aren't interested in reading, please consider this a Major Invite to attend - why, special drinks will be served, Absinthe, eg. Plus, Great Art!
