EBOLUSYON: A GATHERING OF CONTEMPORARY PHILIPPINE AMERICAN ARTISTS IN QUEENS

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend Bliss on Bliss Art Project's inaugural season, and warmly encourage you to extend this invitation to all interested parties. Bring your entourage!
Located in the historic Queens neighborhood of Sunnyside, BBAP is committed to providing an intimate venue for the showcase of new work by contemporary artists, writers, filmmakers, scholars, performers, and arts educators based in the tri-state area's most diverse borough. Founded and run by Philippine-born visual artist and printmaker Ged Merino, BBAP also hopes to spotlight the diverse contributions by today's Philippine American cultural producers.
In recognition of October's Philippine Heritage Month, Queens Poet Laureate and Sunnyside neighbor Paolo Javier will curate a special program consisting of a pair of art residencies and openings, digital film screenings, readings, and talks by some of today's innovative Fil Am artists and writers, including celebrated poet/novelists Jessica Hagedorn and R. Zamora Linmark, and Elmhurst's own Guggenheim recipient for filmmaking, Lav Diaz. This gathering will serve as a blueprint for BBAP's future programming, as we plan to continue our month-long artist residencies, in addition to maintaining our calendar of interdisciplinary events.

Eileen Tabios is part of a “Post 9/11”: Commemorative Display now on view in the Library of Congress’ Asian Division Reading Room, located in Room L J 150 of the Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First Street S.E., Washington, D.C. The exhibition runs through September 15, 2011, with the hours of the Library of Congress’ Asian Division Reading Room being 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
